I am reading the Red Fairy Book. It seems that life is indeed so very cruel in fairy tales, the old tales that is. Quite like in reality, except that the cruelty in fairytales always seems to have a point - unlike reality, in which the cruelty is often rather pointless. Oh well. Fairytales win again.
